Cornell offers need-based financial aid to students who demonstrate financial need. No merit or athletic scholarships are provided. 

Who Can Apply? 

All admitted undergraduate students—both U.S. citizens and eligible non-citizens. International students follow a separate process. 

What Is Covered? 

Aid packages may include: 

  • Grants (do not need to be repaid) 

  • Student loans 

  • Work-study opportunities 

  • Tuition, housing, meals, and other educational costs based on need 

Eligibility Criteria

  • Must demonstrate financial need 

  • Must reapply every year 

  • Changes in income, family size, or number of siblings in college can affect eligibility 

How to Apply? 

  • Submit required financial documents through the Office of Financial Aid 

  • Typically includes the FAFSA and CSS Profile (for U.S. students) 

  • Use the Cornell Financial Aid website for full instructions
