The University of Manchester’s Equity and Merit Scholarships support academically outstanding students from six African countries who are committed to driving sustainable development in their home nations. Scholarships are awarded to those who cannot otherwise afford to study, covering full tuition and living costs for on-campus programs, or full tuition for online learning.
Who Can Apply?
Citizens and residents of Ethiopia, Malawi, Rwanda, Tanzania, Uganda, or Zimbabwe who have never previously studied outside Africa (short-term training under six months excluded).
What is Covered?

Full tuition fees for both on-campus and online master’s programs

For on-campus students: return international airfare, living expenses, and visa fees
Eligibility Criteria:

Be a resident citizen of one of the six eligible countries

Have a bachelor’s degree with excellent grades (typically top 10% of class) obtained before September 2024

At least two years’ professional experience related to chosen field (unpaid internships and voluntary work excluded)

Commitment to returning home and contributing to development

Clear plan for how studying at Manchester will benefit your career and community

If eligible, you will be invited to submit an academic application for your chosen master’s program

Admission to the program is required before final scholarship shortlisting
