The Safe Haven Fellowship, offered by the Netherlands Institute for Advanced Study (NIAS), provides a five-month residency in Amsterdam for scholars, writers, artists, and journalists at risk due to conflict or war. The fellowship aims to offer a supportive environment for individuals whose work is obstructed or endangered in their home countries. Who can apply? All nationalities. What is covered? A monthly stipend of €3,500. Subsidized accommodation in Amsterdam or commuting travel expenses. Office space, research facilities, and communal lunches. Reimbursement for outward and return travel. A letter of invitation to assist with visa applications (note: visa arrangements are the fellow's responsibility). Eligibility criteria Scholars with at least three years of research experience post-PhD (for scientific proposals). Artists, writers, and journalists with relevant professional experience (PhD not mandatory). Individuals whose work aligns with the humanities and/or social sciences.
