Who Can Apply? 

  • Prospective and admitted Ph.D. students in the Department of Economics at the University of Pennsylvania. 

What is Covered? 

  • Tuition and fees 

  • Penn Student Health Insurance (excluding premium dental) 

  • 12-month stipend for five years (amount is competitive and adjusts annually) 

  • Benjamin Franklin and Fontaine Fellowships (for eligible candidates) 

Eligibility Criteria 

  • Must be admitted into the Ph.D. program in Economics at Penn. 

  • Fontaine Fellowships are for students whose backgrounds, research, and experiences enhance diversity and inclusion. 

How to Apply? 

  • No separate financial aid application is needed. 

  • All applicants to the Economics Ph.D. program are automatically considered for financial support and fellowships.
