Stockholm University is offering a four-year fully funded PhD position to investigate the behavior of Rare Earth Elements (REE) during polyphase deformation. The project combines petrology, geochemistry, and geochronology with hands-on fieldwork in the Alps and training in advanced microanalytical techniques and thermodynamic modelling.

Applicants with a Master’s degree in geosciences or related fields, with strong knowledge in petrology, geochemistry, and analytical techniques.

Eligibility Criteria
General Requirements:

Completed second-cycle degree (Master’s) or equivalent (minimum 240 ECTS, 60 at second cycle)
Specific Requirements: -
At least 90 ECTS in geosciences

At least 30 ECTS in mathematics, physics, chemistry, or biology
-
At least 60 ECTS at advanced level, including 30 ECTS independent work in geosciences

Written and oral proficiency in English
Desirable Qualities: -
Strong knowledge in petrology and geochemistry

Analytical thinking, creativity, independence, and teamwork skills
