Program: Public Policy Each semester, GSPP offers teaching and research assistant roles for graduate students as GSIs, Readers, Tutors, or GSRs to support courses and faculty research. Who can apply? All admitted and enrolled GSPP graduate students. Preference is typically given to GSPP Ph.D. students and second-year M.P.P. students. What is covered? Paid appointments (with tuition/fee remission) for: GSI (Graduate Student Instructor) – Teaches discussion sections, grades, and supports course instruction. Reader – Grades assignments/exams; may assist with lectures. Tutor – Provides academic support via one-on-one or group sessions. GSR (Graduate Student Researcher) – Works on research projects under faculty direction. Eligibility criteria Must be a registered UC Berkeley graduate student. Must meet course-specific qualifications listed in the position document. Some roles require a cover letter.
