Who Can Apply? 

Full-time Ph.D. and research master’s students at Cornell. Students are typically nominated or selected by their academic departments or fields. 

What Is Covered? 

  • Full tuition credit 

  • A stipend (at or above Cornell’s minimum rate, paid semi-monthly) 

  • Health insurance coverage 

  • Most doctoral students also receive summer stipends 

Eligibility Criteria

  • Must be a full-time Ph.D. or research master’s student 

  • Must be making satisfactory progress toward degree completion 

  • Must be available to work 15–20 hours per week (for TA, RA, or GA roles) 

  • For GRA appointments, research must be directly related to the student's thesis or dissertation 

How to Apply? 

There is no separate application for assistantships. Eligible students are typically offered assistantship positions by their graduate fields or departments as part of their admission and funding package.
