Program: Computational Biology Cornell offers four types of assistantships—Teaching Assistant (TA), Research Assistant (RA), Graduate Assistant (GA), and Graduate Research Assistant (GRA)—to support full-time Ph.D. and research master’s students. These roles involve teaching and/or research that contributes to the university’s academic mission while furthering the student’s education. Who Can Apply? Full-time Ph.D. and research master’s students. International students are eligible but must meet English proficiency requirements to serve as TAs. What Is Covered? Students on full assistantships receive: Stipend Full tuition credit at the research degree rate Cornell student health insurance Possible summer appointments or stipend supplements depending on the field Eligibility Criteria Must be a full-time graduate student enrolled in a Ph.D. or research master’s program Must commit to 15–20 hours/week, averaging no more than 15 hours for the base stipend Assignments are usually within the student’s major or a closely related field For TAs: Completion of language assessment (if applicable) How to Apply?
