Program: Comparative Literature This flexible and interdisciplinary Ph.D. program encourages students to craft their own academic paths across languages, cultures, and media. With no required courses and a diverse faculty, students explore theoretical, critical, historical, or anthropological approaches to literature and culture. Who Can Apply? Applicants with a strong academic background in literature, theory, or related disciplines. Students should be prepared for advanced work in at least two languages and have reading knowledge of a third. What Is Covered? Admitted students receive six academic years and five summers of full funding, which includes: Full tuition fellowship Annual stipend Health insurance 1st-year non-teaching fellowship 4 years of teaching assistantships 1 additional non-teaching fellowship for dissertation writing Summer support (first-year TAship + subsequent summers) Eligibility Criteria Demonstrated interest in comparative or interdisciplinary literary study Language proficiency (advanced in two, reading knowledge of a third) Open to interdisciplinary mentorship (committee members can be from any field at Cornell) How to Apply?
