The MIT KSJ Fellowship is a fully funded 9.5-month program designed for experienced science, health, technology, or environmental journalists worldwide. Fellows engage in research projects, gain expertise in scientific fields, and work with leading research institutions.
Who Can Apply?

Full-time journalists (employed or freelance)

At least 3 years of experience in science, health, technology, or environmental reporting

Roles include reporters, writers, editors, producers, illustrators, filmmakers, or photojournalists in print, digital, or broadcast media

Open to all nationalities
What Is Covered?

$85,000 stipend for 9.5 months

Field trips to leading scientific institutions (e.g., Woods Hole, Jackson Laboratory, Harvard Forest)

Fellows’ Responsibilities

Conduct a journalism-focused research project (long-form narratives, multimedia reporting, video/audio projects, book research)

Eligibility Criteria

Minimum 3 years of professional journalism experience in science/health/technology/environment reporting

Must be a full-time journalist (employee or freelancer)
